Message from Donald McInnes, Vice-Chair and CEO
VANCOUVER -- November 17, 2008 - On behalf of the staff and family at
Plutonic Power Corporation we share in the immeasurable pain and losses
suffered by the families of those affected by the November 16 aircraft
tragedy.
On Sunday, a Pacific Coastal Grumman Goose, chartered by Peter Kiewit
Sons Co. en route to the Plutonic Power Toba Valley project site, was
involved in a fatal mid-morning crash. Tragically, seven of the eight
people on board did not survive. Miraculously one passenger was rescued
from the crash site and was sent to hospital for treatment of non life
threatening injuries. Throughout the day yesterday and into the night
Plutonic Power supported Peter Kiewit Sons Co. while their staff came to
grips with the situation and began the process of notifying and
offering support directly to the families of those involved in the
crash.
Plutonic Power expresses its deepest sympathy to the families of those
who lost their lives and are providing whatever support Peter Kiewit
Sons Co. and Pacific Coastal Airlines require at this time to provide
outreach and care for those impacted.
Peter Kiewit Sons Co. has mobilized a team of grief counselors to the
project camp for the benefit of their direct and indirect employees and
the camp is on a temporary shut down while employees receive the support
they need.
We are grateful for all of the messages of support and condolences from
friends and colleagues. We find strength in your support and we will
rebuild from this horrible loss with the benefit of time as a healer.
