VANCOUVER, BC - April 26, 2006: Plutonic Power Corporation
(PCC:TSXV) is pleased to announce that the Company has submitted the
Europa Creek run of river green hydroelectric project into the
Environmental Assessment Permitting Process through the British Columbia
Environmental Assessment Office ("EAO").
The EAO has issued a Section 10 Order, which binds the Project to the
Environmental Assessment Act. The submission to the EAO is for the
construction an 67 megawatt ("MW") run of river green hydroelectric
project to be located on Europa Creek, as well as an approximately 50 km
69kV long transmission line to interconnect near Kemano, British
Columbia. Initial studies have estimated that the Project could produce
up to 280 GW.h of electricity, enough to power approximately 30,000
homes. Submission of the Project for review under the EAO process is a
major step towards securing Environmental Assessment Certificate.
EAO documentation regarding the Europa Creek project may be retrieved at: http://www.eao.gov.bc.ca/epic/output/html/deploy/epic_project_home_274.html
Plutonic Power is an emerging energy producer in British Columbia. Its
proposed 19 projects have a design capacity of over 870 MW with the
potential to generate approximately 2900 GW.h/year of green energy,
enough energy to meet the annual energy needs of approximately 300,000
homes. Included in the 19 projects is the creation of the Green Power
Corridor, a series of non-storage hydroelectric projects in southwestern
BC, which hold the potential to catapult British Columbia to the
forefront of green energy generation in North America. The completion of
the Green Power Corridor would be through one of the largest single
private sector green energy investments ever made in British Columbia
and would create over 2,400 person-years of employment.
The Company has entered the East Toba and Montrose, Rainy River and
Emory Creek projects into the 2006 BC Hydro Call for Tender (CFT).
These three projects will have a combined capacity of 217.5 MW.
Contracts are expected to be awarded by BC Hydro in August 2006.
Plutonic is committed to continuously work with First Nations,
stakeholder groups and local communities in the development of its run
of river projects.
